One of the largest independent production companies
Odeon Film AG belongs to the largest independent production companies for television and cinema in Germany. Until now, we have produced and co-produced 79 TV-series with around 2665 episodes, 180 TV-movies, 47 feature films, 20 documentaries, diverse shows and mini-serials.
Since the 1980’s, successful series like “Ein Fall für zwei” (A Case for Two) or “Der Landarzt” (The Country Doctor) have reached the top-ranks on German television. Formats such as “KDD – Kriminaldauerdienst” or “Türkisch für Anfänger” were awarded several national and international prizes such as the German Television Award and the Grimme-Preis. Crime thriller “Letzte Spur Berlin” (Disappeared – The M.P.U.) gained great viewing rates lately. A second season is already planned.
For the large screen we have realized, amongst others, “Wo ist Fred?” (Where is Fred?), “Erkan & Stefan”, “John Rabe”, “Das Fliegende Klassenzimmer” (The Flying Classroom) and “Sommer in Orange” (Summer in Orange).
The much anticipated film adaption of the Kluftinger-novel “Milchgeld. Ein Kluftingerkrimi” broadcasted by the ARD turned out to be a great success. Also other TV-movies e.g. “Lotta & die großen Erwartungen” (Lotta & the High Expectations) or “Mann kann, Frau erst recht” (Men can do a lot, Women even more) have proven their worth through high audience rates.
The oldest of nine subsidiary companies is Novafilm Fernsehproduktion (Novafilm Television Production), founded in 1967. Odeon Film AG is listed on the stock exchange since April 1999.
